Sustainability isn’t just about the environment. At Lussmanns we believe in supporting others and giving back to our local, and wider, communities. Every year we help partner with either a local or national charity and throughout the year give our support to a wide range of fundraising initiatives local to our restaurants.
We have raised £38,924 between 2013 and July 2021, including these major contributions:
– 2017: Youth Talk, £10,483 [Find out more] – 2018: Herts Homeless: £6,500 [Find out more] – 2019: Muscle Help Foundation £7688 [Find out more] – 2020: Trussell Trust (through lockdown) £2,000 In 2021 we will support Hospitality Action
If you are a local charity that is looking for support, or would like a prize for a fundraising initiative, please contact Kat Grant: [email protected]
The past 18 months has been the most challenging period in the history of hospitality, but this has not stopped us. Throughout the lockdowns we were determined to support – in whatever way possible – those who were having an even tougher time than ourselves and we pledged to donate 2p per item every time the Lussmanns To Go service made a delivery to the home of a customer. We are very proud to have raised £2,000 in this way for the Trussell Trust, working to stop UK hunger and poverty through a network of foodbanks providing emergency food and support to people in crisis, which is passing this money on to a local foodbank.
ANNUAL CHARITY PARTNER
One of the national charities very close to our hearts, that we are supporting in 2021, is Hospitality Action. This national charity was established in 1837 to help those in the hospitality industry who have fallen on hard times, for whatever reason. The past year and a half has been devastating for the industry and many of those who work in it – a huge proportion of whom are young, with no other skillset and therefore utterly dependent on the industry for their livelihoods. Hospitality Action helps the chefs, waiters, housekeepers, managers, concierges, receptionists, kitchen porters, sommeliers, bartenders and catering assistants in hotels, restaurants, pubs, bars, cafés, schools, hospitals or event venues.
SAVE THE SEA
Since 2019 we have been working for the campaign Save the Sea, which is centred around World Oceans Day and is part of the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF). Our Founder Andrei Lussmann is proud to be this organisation’s Ambassador for Illegal Fishing. Lussmanns is committed to helping ensure our oceans can sustain people and fish stocks for generations to come and Andrei Lussmann is delighted to be a spokesperson for EJF’s Save the Sea campaign.
THE BUMBLEBEE CONSERVATION TRUST
This charity is doing crucial work to protect bumblebees, which are an integral part of the ecosystem, pollinating our crops and wildflowers. In the last 80 years our bumblebee populations have crashed and two species have become nationally extinct, while several others have declined dramatically. Lussmanns was very proud to support this charity and help protect our much-loved bumblebees during 2016.
